Exciting New Rs 20.30 Crore Planetarium in Assam’s Kaliabor Set for Completion!
After nearly four years of dedicated construction, the ambitious Rs 20.30-crore planetarium project at Shravani Satra in Kaliabor is nearing completion. With a target finish date of February 10, this initiative aims to establish itself as a major hub for science education, innovation, and public outreach in Assam.
This project, envisioned as part of the Assam government’s effort to foster a scientific mindset among the public, had its foundation stone laid on January 17, 2021. Since then, it has evolved into a comprehensive science and learning complex.
Once operational, the facility will feature a cutting-edge digital planetarium, themed science galleries, and an interactive science gallery designed to engage students, researchers, and the general public. Additionally, the complex will incorporate an innovation center aimed at nurturing creativity and scientific thinking in young minds.
Beyond educational spaces, the project will provide an auditorium, a science park, a guest house, staff quarters, and a cafeteria, creating a self-contained venue for learning and academic collaboration.
Officials believe this planetarium will significantly enhance science communication and experiential learning in the state and will elevate Kaliabor’s status as a hub for educational tourism. As finishing touches are applied, the facility is set to open a new avenue to the cosmos for countless learners and visitors from Assam and beyond.
