Vijay’s Bold Strategy: Whistleblowing Sparks TVK’s Election Momentum
Actor-turned-politician Vijay made a significant return to politics at a meeting in Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu, on Sunday, January 25, greeted by enthusiastic cheers and whistles from party supporters. This event marks a renewed push by his party, the Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath (TVK), ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections expected in a few months.
As the political landscape heats up, the AIADMK, the main opposition party, has already kicked off its campaign under the slogan “Protect the people, save Tamil Nadu,” positioning itself as a strong contender against the ruling government. The DMK, currently in power, expresses confidence in its chances, highlighting the popularity of its welfare schemes, particularly those aimed at women.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has reiterated his commitment to leading Tamil Nadu with unity and stability. In parallel, TVK has intensified its organizational and election planning activities, positioning itself as a potential alternative political force. At prior public engagements, Vijay emphasized that while established parties often make grand promises, TVK would focus on practical and implementable initiatives, underscoring accountability and governance feasibility.
In recent days, TVK held several internal consultations at its Panaiyur party office, including meetings for the drafting of their election manifesto and campaign strategies. After a public meeting in Erode on December 18, Vijay largely stayed away from public appearances and refrained from commenting on issues such as the demand for a CBI probe related to the ‘Janayan’ film controversy, making his return to public events particularly noteworthy.
The Mamallapuram meeting, conducted in a private venue, attracted around 3,000 expected attendees, consisting of state and district-level party officials. Entry was limited to individuals with identification cards, which were scanned digitally, a move reflecting the party’s focus on discipline and organized participation. N. Anand, the General Secretary, oversaw the event, emphasizing its focus on Assembly election preparations.
Sengottaiyan, the chief coordinator of the executive committee, announced that TVK would launch a statewide campaign tour from Chennai on January 26, planned to cover all 234 Assembly constituencies. Decisions regarding whether the party would contest the elections independently or form alliances will be revealed by Vijay at a later date. The assignment of the whistle symbol has energized party members, adding momentum to Vijay’s expanding political campaign.
