CEC Gyanesh Kumar Unveils Revolutionary ECINET Platform for Election Efficiency
The Election Commission of India (ECI) launched ECINET, a comprehensive digital platform for election-related information and services, during the India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) 2026 in New Delhi. This three-day conference, taking place from January 21 to 23 at Bharat Mandapam, showcased the innovative platform designed to enhance voter engagement and transparency.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, spearheaded the initiative, which was first announced in May 2025. Speaking at the launch, CEC Kumar emphasized that ECINET was developed in full compliance with Indian law and is accessible in 22 scheduled languages plus English.
Kumar invited election management bodies from around the world to collaborate with India in creating similar digital platforms tailored to their specific legal frameworks and languages. Election Commissioner Sandhu highlighted that ECINET is a powerful tool to boost confidence in electoral management by promoting transparency, facilitating the monitoring of functions, and enabling rapid decision-making and information sharing.
Election Commissioner Joshi noted that the conference offers a chance for global election management bodies to draw lessons from international best practices in adopting technology and digital innovations. During the presentation, Seema Khanna, Director General of Information Technology, underscored the importance of cybersecurity as a foundational pillar of ECINET, stating that technology has evolved from a support function to a strategic enabler, ultimately enhancing transparency, efficiency, and public trust in elections.
ECINET is recognized as the world’s largest electoral service platform, seamlessly integrating over 40 applications and portals from the Election Commission of India into a single user-friendly experience. The platform adheres strictly to constitutional provisions, the Representation of the People Acts, and various rules governing elections in India.
The platform facilitates engagement between citizens, candidates, political parties, and election officials, offering essential services like voter registration, electoral roll searches, application tracking, candidate information, consultations with election officials, e-EPIC downloads, and grievance redressal-all on one secure platform. A successful beta version was tested during the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections and the Special Intensive Revision, allowing the Election Commission to enhance citizen-centric electoral services and provide timely access to election-related information at the click of a button.
