SHILLONG: A significant development has been announced by South Shillong MLA and Cabinet Minister Bah Sanbor Shullai, focused on crucial infrastructure improvements in the area of Raid Laban. A total investment of ₹11.23 crore has been allocated for multiple projects designed to enhance the facilities and amenities for residents. This funding involves the Public Works Department (PWD), the Sports Department, and the Water Resources Department.
Among the initiatives, ₹4 crore is earmarked for the development of the Raid Laban College entrance, enhancing the accessibility and appearance of the educational institution. Additionally, an artificial turf football ground is slated for construction with an investment of ₹6 crore, which aims to provide better playing conditions for local athletes.
The Water Resources Department has also contributed to these efforts by preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of two check dams, with a budget of ₹2 crore. These check dams are intended to improve water management and prevent flooding in the area, ensuring better infrastructure for residents.
