Celebrating 75 Years of Faith and Service: Kangpokpi’s SCBC Women’s Triumph
The South Changoubung Baptist Church (SCBC) Women’s Department in Kangpokpi district, Manipur, celebrated its Platinum Jubilee on January 15, marking 75 years of devoted spiritual, social, and community service. The two-day celebration featured a series of significant events that highlighted the department’s ongoing commitment to faith, service, and unity.
The opening ceremony commenced with a prayer of thanksgiving, expressing gratitude for God’s guidance and grace throughout seven and a half decades. The Church Chairman reflected on the department’s journey since its establishment, emphasizing resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering faith as its core values.
A pivotal moment occurred when Rev Thangsat Kipgen, the Chief Guest, hoisted the Platinum Jubilee flag on behalf of Kangpokpi MLA Nemcha Kipgen. This act marked the official start of the Jubilee year and represented unity, hope, and steadfast faith. The ceremony included the release of Jubilee balloons and a gun salute, enhancing the solemnity of the occasion.
Another significant highlight was the placement of the Jubilee flag by various guests, symbolizing continuity and a shared responsibility to uphold Christian values. The Jubilee Choir performed the theme song based on “The Lord Is My Banner” from Exodus 17:15, reinforcing the spiritual essence of the celebrations.
The agenda also included the ribbon cutting and dedication of the newly constructed Jubilee Hall, led by event minister Pastor Songthang Lotzem, who prayed for the hall’s purpose to be fulfilled in service to God and the community. In her keynote address, Women’s Department Chairperson Kimlam Vaiphei emphasized the vital role of women in strengthening the Church’s spiritual and moral foundations, attributing the department’s success to divine guidance.
Dignitaries, including the Chief Guest and other honored guests, recognized the SCBC Women’s Department as a cornerstone of faith and discipline, encouraging members to stay rooted in God’s word. The first day concluded with special performances and a vote of thanks from the Jubilee Committee Chairperson.
The final day featured the unveiling of a Jubilee monolith by Pastor Songthang Lotzem, symbolizing the Church’s enduring legacy. This was followed by the release of the Jubilee Souvenir by Rev S Vaiphei, which documented the department’s rich history and milestones. Pastor Paotingen Vaiphei delivered the Jubilee message, urging the congregation to carry on the Church’s mission with renewed faith and commitment.
The celebrations ended with a closing prayer, dedicating the Jubilee year to God’s guidance. This observance stands as a testament to 75 years of faith-driven service, reaffirming the Women’s Department’s belief that their journey has unfolded under the steadfast banner of the Lord.
