Lenovo Accelerates AI Innovation with Nvidia Partnership and Qira Launch
China’s Lenovo, the world’s largest personal computer manufacturer, announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with U.S. AI chip leader Nvidia to assist AI cloud providers in rapidly deploying data centers. This collaboration was revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, where Lenovo also showcased an AI platform, innovative devices, and its first foldable smartphone under the Motorola brand.
As part of the data center initiative, Lenovo plans to offer a liquid-cooled hybrid AI infrastructure combined with Nvidia’s computing platforms, aiming to shorten deployment times for AI cloud providers to mere weeks. Lenovo’s CEO, Yang Yuanqing, highlighted this advancement, stating, “Lenovo AI Cloud Gigafactory with NVIDIA sets a new benchmark for scalable AI factory design, enabling the world’s most advanced AI environments to be deployed in record-setting time,” during a speech next to Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang.
In addition to the AI infrastructure, Yang introduced Qira, a personal AI system designed to operate seamlessly across Lenovo and Motorola PCs, smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices, even functioning in the background. This system will also include capabilities to provide services from companies like Expedia, according to Lenovo.
Lenovo also presented concept AI glasses, joining the ranks of Alibaba and Samsung Electronics in the burgeoning field, along with an AI assistant wearable device developed under “Project Maxwell,” which aims to deliver real-time assistance to its users.
