Urgent Action Needed: NGT Orders CAQM to Address Serious Health Crisis After Mother’s Heartbreaking Plea for Two-Month-Old Daughter
After a woman filed a complaint regarding her two-month-old daughter’s serious health issues, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has taken action against ongoing construction activities at the Central government’s Centre for Development of Telematics, which allegedly violate environmental regulations. The NGT, in an order issued on December 23, directed the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in the National Capital Region (NCR) and other relevant entities to address the situation.
The complaint highlights “substantial issues” related to adherence to environmental standards. The applicant expressed that both she and her infant daughter are suffering from health complications-she from allergic bronchitis, which has forced her to stay away from her child. Due to the medical expenses incurred because of these health issues, she has sought compensation amounting to ₹7,11,000.
In her plea, the applicant disclosed that she had previously raised her concerns about the alleged illegal construction with both the Delhi government and CAQM, but no remedial action had been taken. The NGT’s order mandates the CAQM to review her complaint submitted on November 22, 2025. It instructed the commission to conduct a ground verification to ascertain violations and implement appropriate corrective and punitive measures within ten days of receiving the order.
