Unmasking Corruption: Amit Shah Declares DMK Government as the Most Corrupt in India!
In a pointed address during the conclusion of the BJP State President Nainar Nagenthran’s ‘Tamizhagam Thalai Nimira Tamizhanin Payanam’ roadshow in Pudukottai, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a fierce critique of the DMK government on January 4, 2026. He asserted that Tamil Nadu has the most corrupt state government in the nation, claiming that the DMK has “failed” to deliver on its election promises and has left citizens unprotected, particularly women.
Shah’s remarks came as he faced a sizable audience, where he charged that the current administration’s primary goal is positioning Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, as the next Chief Minister. “It’s time to end the family rule in Tamil Nadu,” he stated emphatically, referencing a political lineage that began with former DMK leader M. Karunanidhi and has continued to Stalin and now his son. He expressed confidence that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would form a government in the state by April 2026.
The Home Minister also highlighted alleged corruption within the DMK government, pointing fingers at ministers involved in “multi-crore” scandals linked to cash-for-jobs, money laundering, and illegal sand mining. Shah criticized the financial mismanagement in Tamil Nadu, suggesting that every government scheme was marred by “20% cut money” while pointing out that the state budget relied heavily on loans and liquor revenues.
In a counter to the DMK’s claims that the BJP-led central government was unsupportive of Tamil language initiatives, Shah underscored the Modi administration’s actions, including the establishment of the Subramania Bharathi Chair at Banaras Hindu University and translations of the Thirukkural into 13 languages. He noted the appointment of C.P. Radhakrishnan as India’s Vice President as further evidence of the government’s commitment to honor Tamil culture.
Shah labeled the partnership between the BJP and AIADMK as a “natural alliance,” emphasizing their collaborative efforts in previous elections, including the 1998 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections as well as the 2021 Assembly elections. He assured supporters of an imminent strategy to unite with other political partners for a decisive confrontation against the DMK-Congress coalition.
Shah also made references to recent controversial remarks made by a DMK leader, which allegedly demeaned Hindu religious practices, claiming the DMK disrespects traditional beliefs. Asserting the NDA’s electoral successes across India since 2024, he encouraged party activists to pave the way for a strong NDA presence in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal in the upcoming elections.
The rally featured notable attendance including Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Arjun Ram Meghwal, L. Murugan, and former BJP leaders K. Annamalai and Pon. Radhakrishnan. The event solidified the BJP’s strategy as it gears up for what promises to be a contentious electoral battle in Tamil Nadu.
As political tensions rise in the state, the BJP aims to leverage rising dissatisfaction with the DMK government as a rallying point for voters in the next election cycle.
