Passenger Plane Skids Off Runway During Landing in Nepal: Shocking Incident
A passenger aircraft from Buddha Air skidded off the runway during landing at Bhadrpur Airport in Jhapa District, Nepal, on Friday night. The incident involved a total of 55 people, including crew members.
Buddha Air Flight 901, en route from Kathmandu to Bhadrpur, had 51 passengers and 4 crew members on board. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this accident. According to the Nepal Police, the plane lost control while landing and veered off the runway. Emergency responders were able to evacuate all passengers and crew members safely.
As reported on the social media platform X by the Nepal Police, “The Buddha Air flight has met with an accident at Bhadrpur Airport, but all personnel have been rescued safely by the authorities.”
In response to the situation, Buddha Air announced that a technical and support team had already been dispatched from Kathmandu to Bhadrpur to assess the circumstances. The flight had departed Kathmandu at 8:23 PM and was scheduled to return to Kathmandu the following morning. The actual cause of the accident will be determined after a technical evaluation is completed.
Nepal’s aviation safety has come under scrutiny in recent years due to a series of accidents. Notably, a Yeti Airlines plane crash in Kathmandu in July 2024 resulted in the deaths of 18 people. This latest incident has once again instilled fear among travelers.
