Friends Turn Fatal: 18-Year-Old Murdered Over Relationship Clash in Delhi
An 18-year-old boy was murdered by two of his friends over a personal dispute involving a romantic relationship. The victim, identified as Ankit, had been in a relationship with the cousin of one of the accused. On November 22, authorities were alerted by a PCR call reporting a body found floating in the Munak Canal near the Haiderpur Water Treatment Plant.
The investigation revealed that Ankit’s body had been tied up with shoelaces, with a handkerchief around his neck and three sharp injuries to his head. A First Information Report (FIR) was filed under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Samaypur Badli police station.
Officers stated that Ankit had been reported missing since November 18, 2025, when he was last seen in the Gulabi Bagh area. Following a thorough investigation, police arrested the accused, 23-year-olds Ashish and Vishal Dhilod, both residents of Tikri Kalan. They were apprehended after DCP Hareshwar Swami confirmed the allegations against them.
DCP Swami explained that the motive for the crime stemmed from Ashish’s anger over Ankit’s relationship with his cousin sister, as Ankit had reportedly ignored multiple warnings to sever ties. The murder unfolded when the accused lured Ankit to Tikri Kalan Metro Station. They then took him to a house in Gaddha Colony, where they drugged him, tied his limbs, and attacked him with a sharp weapon. The body was loaded into a mini truck and discarded in the canal near Hanuman Temple in Bawana.
Police have since recovered the murder weapon, the mini truck, and the scooter used in the crime.
