Meghalaya Cabinet Greenlights Land Purchase for Greater Noida Guest House
The Meghalaya Cabinet has approved a significant proposal to purchase land for the construction of a Meghalaya House in Greater Noida, part of the National Capital Region (NCR), New Delhi. This decision is motivated by the rapid development of the Jewar Airport, which is anticipated to transform Greater Noida into a major hub for economic activity and connectivity in the near future.
Recognizing the strategic importance of this area, the state government has identified the need to enhance its infrastructure to better support students, residents, and officials from Meghalaya who frequently travel to the national capital and its surrounding regions. The Cabinet’s approval includes the acquisition of approximately 8,000 square meters of land through a government-to-government transaction, amounting to a cost of Rs 32 crore.
The planned Meghalaya House aims to provide accommodation and support services for individuals from the state, while also fortifying Meghalaya’s institutional presence in the NCR. This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to improve facilities for its citizens living outside the state and to prepare for future growth that will come with enhanced regional connectivity.
