A 55-year-old woman suffered injuries after losing control of her two-wheeler while pursuing a man who allegedly snatched her gold chain on Dr. Radhakrishnan Road. The incident, which has raised concerns about safety in the area, occurred as Rajila, a Kotturpuram resident and temple worker, was en route to purchase groceries after her shift.
According to police reports, Rajila was targeted by an unidentified man riding a motorcycle who had been trailing her since near CSI Kalyani Hospital. Recognizing she was in danger, Rajila attempted to accelerate and escape, but the assailant swiftly approached her, snatched her four-sovereign gold chain, and fled the scene.
In hot pursuit, Rajila lost control of her scooter near the Yellow Pages office on V.M. Street in Royapettah, crashing into the median. She sustained injuries to her hands and leg and was promptly taken to Government Royapettah Hospital for treatment.
In filing her complaint, Rajila described the suspect as a man with his face covered by a helmet, indicating that he had been stalking her since they passed the DGP’s office. The Mylapore police have since registered a case and have secured CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify and apprehend the suspect.
