The annual sports week of Mathurapur Higher Secondary School culminated in a spectacular ceremony on December 16. The event, attended by esteemed guests, was presided over by retired teacher Indira Phukan Kakati. Notable attendees included Brajen Chetia, Secretary of the Assam Secondary Teachers’ Association, and Misbaul Haque, Vice-President of the Sivasagar District Secondary Teachers’ Association.
The ceremony commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ritual, followed by a welcoming speech from Principal Nabakanta Saikia. Students showcased their talents through a lively cultural program featuring a Jhumur dance, a solo musical performance, and a song by renowned artist Zubeen Garg.
In his address, chief guest Brajen Chetia highlighted the crucial role of sports and extracurricular activities in fostering the personality development of students. He encouraged them to excel in their pursuits and bring pride to the institution. Other dignitaries, including Pranita Rava, Principal of Blossom Public School, echoed his sentiments, emphasizing the importance of sports and cultural participation in enriching student experiences.
The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates to students for their exceptional performances across various competitions, celebrating their hard work and dedication.
