Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the launch of the ambitious Delhi AI Grind initiative on Sunday, aiming to position the capital as a leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) education. The program seeks to empower students, schools, and communities by developing practical solutions to real-world challenges using AI technology.
Over the next six months, Delhi AI Grind will engage more than 500,000 learners across over 1,000 educational institutions, including schools, colleges, Industrial Training Institutes, and universities. “Our goal is to make Delhi a hub for AI-based innovation,” Gupta stated at the initiative’s launch. “We are committed to demonstrating how technology can enrich every student’s experience and equip them for a future driven by AI.”
Education Minister Ashish Sood elaborated on the initiative’s structure, highlighting that it aims to train 5,000 teachers as certified AI mentors within the next four months. Additionally, the program will support the development of 1,000 student-led prototypes, select 50 youth ambassadors to champion AI education, and compile a national innovation compendium featuring ideas generated by Delhi’s youth.
“Delhi’s educational institutions will be transformed into active innovation labs where students can identify civic and industry challenges. They will collaborate with government agencies and industries to devise actionable solutions,” Sood explained, reflecting the initiative’s commitment to hands-on, practical learning.
The launch event also featured Shubhanshu Shukla, an Indian Air Force Group Captain and the first astronaut from India to visit the International Space Station. He addressed the students, urging them to embrace innovation as a call to action. “You are the future. I encourage you to take steps toward realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047,” Shukla said, inspiring the audience to harness their potential in the realm of technology.
