Heartfelt Tribute: Social Justice Minister Honors Ambedkar on His Death Anniversary with Reverence and Reflection
Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Virendra Kumar, along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, came together in New Delhi on December 6, 2025, to honor Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his death anniversary. This tribute took place at the Parliament House complex, showcasing a united respect for the architect of India’s Constitution.
The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) organized a national seminar in recognition of Ambedkar, where Social Justice Minister Virendra Kumar highlighted both Ambedkar’s enduring influence and the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Home Minister. Kumar recounted the floral tributes paid by senior leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Modi, and Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal at Ambedkar’s statue on Parliament grounds.
Kishore Makwana, chairperson of the NCSC, discussed the significant correspondence between Ambedkar and Patel, noting that Patel championed the rights of “untouchables” during periods of social turbulence-an effort that Ambedkar had acknowledged. This dialogue between two towering figures highlights the intersection of their legacies in shaping India’s social landscape.
Prime Minister Modi took to social media to commemorate Ambedkar on this important day. In a post on X, the Prime Minister expressed, “Remembering Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on Mahaparinirvan Diwas. His visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to justice, equality and constitutionalism continue to guide our national journey. He inspired generations to uphold human dignity and strengthen democratic values. May his ideals keep lighting our path as we work towards building a Viksit Bharat.”
In addition to Modi’s words, Minister Virendra Kumar encouraged citizens to commit to the vision laid out by Ambedkar. His appeal focused on fostering social harmony, promoting education, and safeguarding constitutional rights, which resonate with the ongoing efforts to create a more developed India.
As the nation reflects on Ambedkar’s legacy, this gathering serves as a reminder of his pivotal role in advocating for social justice and equality. The seminar and the tributes underscore the collective responsibility to honor his ideals and strive towards an inclusive society. With leaders publicly affirming their commitment to these principles, the hope is to inspire a new generation to champion the causes Ambedkar fought for throughout his life.
This event not only highlighted the enduring relevance of Ambedkar’s teachings in contemporary India but also called for unity in action among all citizens. As the country continues to navigate its socio-political landscape, the spirit of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar remains a guiding force in the endeavor toward justice and equality for all.
December 6, 2025, marks an important reflection period-one in which the contributions of Dr. Ambedkar can inspire future generations to build a more equitable society, fulfilling the vision of a “Viksit Bharat.”
