Star Player from Preity Zinta’s PBKS Shocks Fans with Historic IPL Auction Decision
Among the 1,355 players registered for the IPL 2026 auction, five have informed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that they will only be available for part of the season. Australia’s Ashton Agar has indicated he can play 65 percent of the matches, while fellow Australian William Sutherland is available for 80 percent. New Zealand’s Adam Milne has a 95 percent availability, and South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw is expected to participate in only 20 percent of the season.
The fifth player, Josh Inglis, a 30-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Australia currently playing in the Ashes at the Gabba, has told the BCCI he will be available for just 25 percent of IPL 2026. This translates to a maximum of four matches, with a base price of ₹2 crore in the auction.
Inglis had a solid performance last season with the Punjab Kings, amassing 278 runs in 11 matches. Notably, he excelled in the final league match, scoring 73 runs off 42 balls against the Mumbai Indians, which contributed to Punjab’s strong finish in the top two. In Qualifier 2, he added crucial runs, hitting 20 runs in a single over off Jasprit Bumrah, playing a key role in Punjab’s progression to the final.
Punjab Kings had contemplated retaining Inglis under coach Ricky Ponting but ultimately released him on the final day of the retention deadline, November 15, due to a potential scheduling conflict with his wedding. Should he be selected in the auction, he would have limited availability for only a couple of weeks.
Like Inglis, Agar’s base price is set at ₹2 crore, although he has never played in the IPL. Sutherland, who also has yet to experience the league, is priced at ₹1 crore. Milne, who is 33, has participated in previous IPL seasons, but not in the last three, and his base price is ₹2 crore. Rossouw, 36, has played only 22 matches across four IPL seasons since his debut in 2014. Given his limited availability for three to four matches, the likelihood of him being picked remains low.
The IPL 2026 auction is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16.
