A young married woman was apprehended on Thursday evening during a specialized police operation near the Teliamura railway station in Khowai District, Tripura. Authorities seized brown sugar worth over ₹7 lakh from her possession, causing a stir in the local community.
According to Jayanta Dey, Officer-in-Charge of the Teliamura Police Station, the arrest followed precise intelligence regarding a rise in drug-related activities in the Trisha Bari area near the station. “Acting on the tip-off, a police team conducted a targeted raid, during which the woman was observed moving suspiciously. Upon searching her, officers confiscated a significant quantity of brown sugar. She was promptly taken into custody in accordance with legal protocols,” Dey stated.
Police sources revealed that the woman is originally from Khayerpur, with her parental home located in Suryamaninagar, Agartala, under the West District. A comprehensive investigation into the incident is currently in progress, with authorities assuring that all legal procedures are being adhered to.
