NDA Dominates Elections: Five Seats Secured with Record Margins!
The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) achieved a remarkable victory in the Bihar Assembly Election, securing over 200 seats in the 243-member legislature. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single-largest party, a significant win amidst a challenging political landscape.
According to data from the Election Commission, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) won the Rupauli seat with a commanding margin of 73,572 votes, pushing the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) into second place. The BJP, which claimed 89 seats overall, also delivered strong performances, including a victory in the Digha seat by a margin of 59,079 votes over its closest rival from the CPI (ML)(L). Additionally, the Lok Janshakti Party, led by Union Minister Chirag Paswan, won the Sugauli seat with a margin of 58,191 votes against the runner-up from the Janshakti Janta Dal.
The JD(U) continued its success in Gopalpur, defeating the VSIP by 58,135 votes, while the BJP won the Aurai seat, beating Mukesh Sahni’s VSIP by a margin of 57,206 votes. These outcomes showcase the NDA’s dominance in several key areas during the election.
However, the election also highlighted tightly contested races where margins were exceptionally close. The JD(U) clinched the Sandesh seat by an incredibly narrow margin of just 27 votes against the RJD. Similarly, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) edged out the BJP in Ramgarh with only 30 votes separating them. The data indicates that the narrowest victories involved candidates from the BJP, BSP, JD(U), and RJD.
This election marked a substantial setback for the opposition coalition, Mahagathbandhan, led by the RJD and Congress. They managed to secure only 33 out of the 243 contested seats, with Congress winning a mere six of the 61 it campaigned for, reflecting a significant decline in their political fortunes.
Overall, the NDA’s decisive majority in Bihar illustrates a solid mandate from the electorate, reinforcing the BJP’s position as the dominant party within the region’s political framework.
