Dharmendra Hospitalized: Family Clears Air on False Death Rumors
Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, known as the “He-Man of Bollywood,” was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on November 10 due to respiratory issues. While initial reports suggested his condition was critical, his family has confirmed that the 89-year-old actor is stable and recovering under medical supervision.
Esha Deol, Dharmendra’s daughter, took to Instagram to address the swirling rumors about her father’s health, stating, “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for Papa’s speedy recovery.”
His wife, Hema Malini, expressed her frustration with the false reports, calling them “extremely disrespectful and irresponsible.” On November 11, she tweeted, “What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy.”
Throughout Monday, family members and industry colleagues, including his wife Hema Malini and son Sunny Deol, were present at the hospital to support him. Bollywood stars such as Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Govinda, Ameesha Patel, and Riteish Deshmukh also visited to check on his health and offered prayers for his swift recovery.
Despite his age, Dharmendra remains active on social media, sharing moments from his farm life and promoting health and wellness. He continues to inspire many with his energy and zest for life, even in his late 80s.
Born Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol in Ludhiana, Punjab, he began his Bollywood journey in 1960 with the film “Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere.” Over the decades, he starred in numerous iconic movies such as “Yaadon Ki Baarat,” “Mera Gaon Mera Desh,” “Phool Aur Patthar,” “Betaab,” and “Ghayal.” In recognition of his contributions to Indian cinema, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2012.
His recent film appearances include “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani” and “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.” The upcoming film “Ikkis,” which is set to release on December 25, marks another significant chapter in his illustrious career. Fans across the globe are sending prayers and well wishes, eagerly anticipating his full recovery ahead of his 90th birthday on December 8.
