Urgent Response: NIA and NSG at Deadly Blast Site Amidst Rising Tensions
A powerful explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort on the evening of November 10 resulted in the deaths of eight individuals and left several others injured, sparking widespread concerns and prompting a nationwide security alert. Officials reported that 15 people were transported to Lok Nayak Jay Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital, where eight were declared dead upon arrival. Among the injured, three remain in critical condition and one is stable, according to the hospital’s Medical Superintendent.
The blast was traced to a car parked close to the Red Fort, causing significant damage to surrounding vehicles and shops. Eyewitnesses recounted chaotic scenes as emergency responders quickly evacuated the injured and secured the area.
In response to the incident, specialized teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG) have been deployed to the site for forensic analysis to determine the explosion’s nature and motive. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been in contact with top officials from the Delhi Police regarding the situation.
This explosion coincided with a significant discovery in Faridabad, Haryana, where authorities uncovered nearly 2,900 kilograms of explosives, believed to be part of a larger conspiracy targeting the national capital. Investigators are currently examining potential connections between this seizure and the explosion near the Red Fort.
Reacting to the tragic event, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia expressed deep concern, labeling the blast as “deeply worrying.” He urged the public to remain calm and united, stating on X (formerly Twitter), “I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and for the safety of all citizens of Delhi and the country. In times like these, peace and restraint are our greatest strength.”
In light of the explosion, the Mumbai Police have issued a high alert, directing all police stations to heighten vigilance, carry out nakabandi operations, conduct random checks of suspicious individuals, and increase patrolling in sensitive areas. Intelligence units have also been activated to enhance ground surveillance across major cities.
