Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on November 8 that the state government is prioritizing the enhancement of its tourism sector while fostering peace and harmony through cultural initiatives. Speaking at the inauguration of the Unity Promo Fest 2025 and Shishu Udyan at Narkelkunja in Dumboor, located in Dhalai district, Saha emphasized that the festival serves as “not just a cultural event, but a message of peace, harmony, and unity.”
This year’s Unity Promo Fest is the second edition, and due to increased public interest, the event has been extended from one day to two. The Chief Minister praised the Tourism Department for making the decision at the right time, noting that such festivals embody the spirit of togetherness among the people of Tripura.
Highlighting the state’s rich cultural diversity, Saha pointed out that Tripura is home to around 19 ethnic groups and communities living in harmony. “People from all walks of life, including various castes and tribes, reside in this state,” he said. He also mentioned that the government has organized significant tourism events at six different locations across Tripura to stimulate local tourism and create employment opportunities. “Many people in Tripura are not fully aware of their own state. We must first understand our state and work towards making it economically prosperous,” the Chief Minister asserted.
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury was present at the event, along with various dignitaries, including MLAs Ranjit Das, Nandita Riang, and Sanjay Manik Tripura. Senior officials, such as Tourism Secretary Uttam Kumar Chakma, District Magistrate Vivek HB, and Superintendent of Police Mihir Lal Das, also attended.
The Unity Promo Fest, organized by the Tourism Department, aims to showcase the state’s cultural heritage and position Tripura as a burgeoning tourism destination in Northeast India.
