Join 1000 Voices to Celebrate Zubeen’s Legacy in Silchar!
In a heartfelt tribute to the late music icon Zubeen Garg, the cultural community of Barak Valley is organizing a unique mass musical event called ‘Hazar Kanthe Zubeen’ (Zubeen in a Thousand Voices) on November 18, coinciding with his birth anniversary. The centerpiece of this event will be a grand collective rendition of Garg’s beloved song ‘Mayabini,’ performed by an estimated thousand voices, which organizers describe as an “emotional and historic celebration” of the artist’s lasting impact.
Set to take place in the evening at the District Sports Association (DSA) ground in Silchar, the event seeks to unite singers, musicians, and art enthusiasts from across the Barak Valley. A newly established group named the Cultural Fraternity of Barak Valley is spearheading the event, aiming to achieve two main objectives: to honor Zubeen Garg’s life and artistic contributions and to bolster the ongoing campaign for “Justice for Zubeen Garg,” which has gained traction throughout Assam following his death.
The organizing committee members are actively reaching out to cultural organizations and artists throughout the region to ensure widespread participation. They aim to create a memorable tribute for one of Assam’s most cherished voices. With this initiative, the community not only celebrates Zubeen’s musical legacy but also stands in solidarity for justice in his name, reinforcing his enduring influence in Assamese culture.
