Alphabet Surpasses $100 Billion Revenue Milestone as Gemini Reaches 650M Users
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet, announced that the company has reached a milestone with its first $100 billion quarter, driven by significant double-digit growth across its various sectors, including search, cloud, and YouTube. This achievement was highlighted during Alphabet’s Q3 2025 earnings call, where Pichai also disclosed that the Gemini app has now surpassed 650 million monthly active users, with query volume tripling since the second quarter.
Pichai noted that the cloud division had an impressive quarter, with AI revenue being a major contributor, leading to a 46% increase in the cloud backlog, which now stands at $155 billion. In addition, Alphabet reported over $300 million in paid subscriptions, largely attributed to the growth of Google One and YouTube Premium. The newly launched AI Mode, available in 40 languages, has already gained more than 75 million daily active users, and the company introduced 100 product enhancements in Q3. Pichai emphasized that AI Mode is contributing to incremental growth in total queries for Google’s Search division.
Furthermore, Alphabet’s in-house models are processing around 7 billion tokens per minute through a direct API used by its clientele. Pichai mentioned the scaling of advanced chips within their data centers, incorporating GPUs from NVIDIA alongside their custom TPUs.
Google Services revenue reached $87 billion for the quarter, reflecting a 14% year-over-year increase. Philipp Schindler, Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer at Google, stated that the surge in revenue was mainly propelled by the exceptional growth in Search and YouTube, although it faced some offset from a decline in network revenues year-over-year.
The 15% rise in Google Search was driven by growth across all key sectors, particularly in retail and financial services. YouTube also registered similar growth, achieving a 15% increase in advertising revenue. Schindler pointed out that Google’s ongoing investments in AI experiences, such as AI Overviews and AI Mode, are further enhancing query growth, including commercial queries, thus generating additional monetization opportunities.
