Unleash the Spirit of Champions: Kerala School Athletic Meet Ignites Thiruvananthapuram on October 22!
Last-minute preparations are feverishly underway at Central Stadium as workers scramble to relay sections of the synthetic flooring in anticipation of Wednesday’s events. The looming north-east monsoon poses a threat of disruptions, particularly with overnight rains already creating muddy approaches to the venue. In a proactive response, organizers utilized a state-of-the-art canopy to protect large portions of the stadium, ensuring that the State School Athletic Meet can proceed as planned.
With 1,944 student athletes from across Kerala gearing up for this exciting competition, the event promises to be a showcase of talent and determination. It kick-starts at 12 venues throughout Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the field and track events with a vibrant parade and ceremony at the Kerala University Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Students arriving from Gulf regions have been warmly welcomed, with General Education Minister V. Sivankutty acknowledging the participation of 35 student athletes from state syllabus schools abroad. The government has diligently arranged for their arrival and accommodations, ensuring a smooth transition for these athletes. Boarding is provided at 74 schools across the city, while 142 Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses are on standby to transport the students to various venues. A sizable community kitchen at Putharikandam Maidan in East Fort will offer three meals daily, capable of serving up to 2,500 individuals, including officials and volunteers.
Safety has been a priority, as officials from the Fire and Rescue Services have inspected both the venues and the massive mess facility for fire and structural safety. In an exciting addition, the State School Athletic Meet will feature a theme song for the first time. The government encouraged students to compose the song’s lyrics and melody, ultimately selecting the winning entry from V. Praful Das, a Plus Two student from Porassery Higher Secondary School, and Sivasankari P. Thankachi, a Class 9 student from Cotton Hill Girls High School in Thiruvananthapuram.
For real-time updates on the track and field events, the government has launched a dedicated portal (kite.kerala.gov.in). This platform allows the public, students, and teachers to monitor results and progress, as well as download achievement certificates. Additionally, viewers can catch live broadcasts of the events on the Kite Victers YouTube channel and the E-Vidya Kerala channel, making it easy for families and fans to support their favorite athletes.
As excitement builds for what is expected to be an unforgettable showcase of athletic prowess, all eyes will be on Thiruvananthapuram for the State School Athletic Meet. This annual event not only highlights the exceptional talent among Kerala’s youth but also fosters a community spirit, uniting participants and spectators alike under the banner of sportsmanship and achievement.
