The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC), which includes several associations such as the Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees Association (CANSSEA) and the Nagaland In-Service Doctors’ Association (NIDA), has announced the extension of its pen-down strike effective from October 17, 2025, until further notice. This decision follows extensive discussions among the committee members regarding the ongoing protest that highlights alleged irregularities in the induction process for the non-State Civil Service (non-SCS) Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
In a statement released today, the JCC emphasized that the strike will persist until the state government implements necessary measures to ensure fairness and transparency in the selection process. The committee seeks to address concerns surrounding the meritocratic principles of the civil service.
In response to a request from the All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) and in consideration of student welfare, the JCC has decided to exempt teachers and educational institutions from the strike. The committee expressed appreciation for ANSTA’s commitment to meritocracy and their solidarity during this challenging time.
The JCC also conveyed gratitude to all associations and individuals who have publicly and privately supported the movement. They acknowledged the disruptions caused by the protest and requested understanding from the public as they strive for a fair and merit-based system for the future. All previously issued guidelines regarding the pen-down strike will remain in effect.
