Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika Slams Congress Amid ‘Mayabini’ Song Controversy
Assam’s BJP Minister Pijush Hazarika strongly criticized the Congress party and its state president, Gaurav Gogoi, on Friday, October 10, over the alleged politicization of Zubeen Garg’s well-known song ‘Mayabini.’ During a party meeting in Bongaigaon, Hazarika accused Congress members of exploiting the artist’s work for political gains.
In his address, Hazarika expressed his disapproval, stating, “Another unfortunate incident involving Congress! At a party meeting in Bongaigaon, Congress workers, donned in party caps and symbols, under the guidance of MP Gaurav Gogoi, shamefully used ‘Mayabini’ for political promotion. This song belongs to our beloved artist Zubeen da. Turning art into propaganda is a disgrace.”
He further questioned the ethical approach of political campaigns, asking, “How low will the Congress party stoop for votes and political interest? After such actions, we are then asked why we connect politically with the artists who embody our culture.”
Hazarika’s comments reflect escalating tensions between the BJP and Congress in Assam, particularly regarding the use of cultural figures and their artistic works in political mobilization.
