Tragic Loss: Two Sisters Killed in Heartbreaking Bengaluru Scooter Accident with Container Truck
Two sisters tragically lost their lives in a deadly accident on October 3 when their scooter was struck from behind by a container truck near Shivanapura, on the eastern outskirts of Bengaluru. The victims, identified as 22-year-old Shwetha and 24-year-old Shailaja, were residents of Hosakote. According to police reports, the sisters were returning home from a visit to a temple in Kaiwara when the collision occurred around 1:45 p.m.
Authorities have highlighted that the accident took place on a notoriously dangerous stretch of the Chintamani-Hosakote highway. Investigating officers noted that while the road conditions contributed to the incident, the primary cause was attributed to reckless driving by the truck’s operator. “We have seized the container and are actively searching for the driver,” a police investigator stated.
In the chilling aftermath of the collision, Shwetha was pronounced dead at the scene. Shailaja was quickly transported to a nearby private hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries. Police are pursuing charges against the truck driver, who has been booked under sections 281 and 106 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertain to rash driving and causing death by negligence, respectively.
