BPF Chief Hagrama Mohilary Considers Rejoining NDA with Conditions
Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) president Hagrama Mohilary announced on Friday that his party is willing to rejoin the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) contingent upon the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dropping the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) from the coalition. Speaking with reporters after a crucial Policy Making Body (PMB) meeting at the Bodoland Guest House in Kokrajhar, Mohilary emphasized that this decision reflects the sentiments of the people of Bodoland. He stated, “If BJP removes UPPL from the NDA, then BPF has no problem in aligning with the NDA again. Our condition is very clear.”
Mohilary, who is scheduled to be sworn in as the Chief of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on October 5, indicated that seven to eight new executive members are expected to take their oaths alongside him. He pointed out that the new council’s primary focus would be to provide land pattas to the residents of Bodoland, highlighting that land rights and ownership are central to the party’s agenda.
The high-level meeting was attended by senior leaders, including former minister Pramila Rani Brahma and other prominent members of BPF’s policy-making body. They discussed the party’s future strategies and governance priorities. Mohilary reiterated the BPF’s commitment to addressing pressing public issues and enhancing the political roadmap for the development of Bodoland.
This announcement adds a new dimension to the political landscape of Bodoland, where changing alliances and conditions are reshaping the balance of power.
