Exciting Launch of Auto ‘Driverla Sevalo’ Program on October 4: Empowering Drivers in Andhra Pradesh with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to launch the “Auto Driverla Sevalo” scheme on October 4, 2025, aimed at providing financial support to auto drivers across the state. This initiative is particularly significant as it comes in response to income drops experienced by nearly 2.9 lakh auto drivers following the implementation of the “Stree Shakti” free bus scheme for women, introduced on August 15, 2025. The Chief Minister highlighted that each eligible driver would receive ₹15,000 as part of this assistance program.
During a public meeting in Datti village, part of the Gajapathinagaram constituency in Vizianagaram district, Mr. Naidu distributed social security pensions to elderly citizens under the NTR Bharosa scheme. He emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting all social segments, including auto drivers, to help them lead fulfilling lives. The total expenditure for the “Auto Driverla Sevalo” scheme is projected at ₹435 crores.
Mr. Naidu also addressed the issue of rising electricity charges, pledging to reduce the rates that were increased under the previous administration. Additionally, he announced a substantial budget of ₹2,000 crores to expedite irrigation projects across North Andhra districts, signaling an ambition for rapid regional development. The Chief Minister is optimistic that the construction of an international airport at Bhogapuram on NH-16 will further stimulate growth across Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Visakhapatnam districts.
Minister for MSME and NRI Affairs noted that the government has allocated approximately ₹48,019 crores over the last six months for the disbursement of social security pensions aimed at assisting underprivileged populations. As part of this effort, Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy presented a ₹5 lakh cheque to Palleda Dhanunjaya Naidu from Datti village under the P-4 zero poverty scheme. The timely arrangement of this cheque was praised by the Chief Minister and other local leaders.
The coordination of the Chief Minister’s visit was managed by Joint Collector Sedhu Madhavan, along with Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police A.R. Damodar and various officials, ensuring a well-organized event.
This series of initiatives highlights the Andhra Pradesh government’s dedication to enhancing social welfare and economic stability within the state, demonstrating a proactive approach in addressing the challenges faced by specific communities. The upcoming “Auto Driverla Sevalo” scheme represents a key component of this broader strategy, aiming to uplift auto drivers affected by recent policy changes.
In summary, the Andhra Pradesh government is taking significant strides toward the welfare of its citizens with focused financial assistance programs while simultaneously planning for infrastructural advancements that promise long-term development in the region.
