Security Forces Capture Insurgents in Manipur: Weapons and Cash Seized
Security forces apprehended three active members of various banned organizations in Manipur on Monday, September 29. The operations took place across different locations, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat militant activities in the region.
In the first operation, authorities arrested Urikhinbam Premjit Singh, a 41-year-old active cadre of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), in Paona Bazar. Singh, a resident of Lamjao Mayai Leikai in the Kakching district, was reportedly involved in extorting local shops and residents. During the arrest, a mobile phone and ₹3,280 in cash were seized from him.
In a separate action, security forces detained Sanasam Sanatomba Singh, alias Naoton, aged 54, linked to the Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA). His arrest occurred at his home in Kadangband Mayai Leikai under Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West district. Authorities recovered significant military equipment during the search, including two INSAS LMG magazines, two camouflage helmets, five bulletproof plates, four bulletproof vests, and a mobile phone.
Additionally, another coordinated effort led to the apprehension of Naoshekpam Sanathoi Meitei, a 19-year-old active cadre of the National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM), in Khoijuman Mayai Leikai within Bishnupur district. His capture further emphasizes the focus of security forces on dismantling militant networks in the area.
