Urgent Relief for Gurugram: Deadline Fast Approaching to Fix Potholes and Restore Monsoon-Damaged Roads!

In a significant post-monsoon initiative, Gurugram’s Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya announced an ambitious plan to address the city’s road infrastructure challenges. Following heavy rainfall earlier this month, which led to severe waterlogging and traffic congestion, officials have set a goal to resolve pothole issues by the end of September and complete overall road repairs and enhancements by the end of October.

During a review meeting via video conference led by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar confirmed the timeline for these critical improvements. Saini emphasized the importance of accountability in road construction and repair efforts, urging all departments involved to adhere strictly to the proposed deadlines for the benefit of citizens seeking better road conditions.

The Chief Minister highlighted that any roads damaged by rainfall should be prioritized for repairs. In terms of progress, the Deputy Commissioner stated that an estimate of ₹17 crore has been prepared for the repair of 29 roads covering a total length of 23 kilometers under the Public Works Department (B&R). Following the tendering process, work is expected to commence within three weeks.

In the HSVP’s Sector 37, repairs are already underway on 46 roads, which span 5.25 kilometers, at a cost of ₹3.25 crore, with completion aimed for October. Additionally, in Pataudi, plans are in place to repair 72 roads over a distance of 13 kilometers, with an estimated budget of ₹9 crore.

The Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board manages 110 roads in total, including two severely damaged roads in Budhera, which will soon undergo necessary repairs. In Udyog Vihar, four of six roads have already been fixed, while in Manesar, repairs are needed for six sites, with work already allotted for five and one remaining in the tendering phase.

Municipal Commissioner Dahiya noted that the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has identified 110 kilometers of roads that require urgent repair, with an estimated cost of around ₹60 crore. This comprehensive strategy aims not only to address the immediate post-monsoon challenges but also to enhance the overall quality of road infrastructure in Gurugram.

As the city grapples with infrastructure issues exacerbated by heavy rains, these measures represent a concerted effort by local authorities to restore and enhance road conditions, ensuring that residents can navigate Gurugram’s thoroughfares more safely and efficiently. The commitments made by district officials reflect an ongoing dedication to improving key public services that have become pivotal in the wake of climatic challenges.

The collaboration between various departments underscores the urgency and necessity of these repairs, fostering a more reliable road network in Gurugram for all its residents. With the deadline approaching, authorities are determined to meet their targets and turn citizen frustrations into proactive community solutions.
