Assam Government Fast-Tracks Reservation Certificates for Adivasi Communities
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reiterated his government’s dedication to the welfare of the state’s tea tribes and Adivasi communities. He announced initiatives aimed at expediting the issuance of certificates needed to access reservation benefits, particularly in education.
In a post on X, Sarma revealed that he has engaged in discussions with representatives from the All Assam Tea Tribes Students’ Association, Chah Janajati Mahila Samiti, and All Adivasi Students’ Association. These meetings focused on the welfare and development of the tea garden community, which is an essential segment of Assam’s population.
To improve access to government schemes, Sarma disclosed plans to establish advisory boards in every district. These boards will facilitate quicker issuance of community certificates, enabling community members to take full advantage of reservation policies, especially in education.
The Chief Minister emphasized that his government remains dedicated to addressing various aspects of the welfare of tea tribes, highlighting their significant role in the state’s socio-economic structure. He stated, “Our government remains committed to ensuring the holistic development of the tea garden community,” reinforcing the aim of long-term inclusive growth in Assam.
