A significant fire erupted on Saturday, August 30, at PM SHRI Dudhnoi Girls’ Higher Secondary School located in Samajila, Dudhnoi, severely damaging the school building. Authorities and school officials are currently assessing the extent of the destruction, while safety inspections and plans for rebuilding are already in progress. Government representatives have committed to immediate repair work to ensure a prompt restoration of the institution.
On Sunday, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu visited the school during his trip to Goalpara district to evaluate the situation firsthand. He was accompanied by Tankeswar Rabha, Chief Executive Member of the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council. Minister Pegu took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to provide updates regarding the incident. He reassured the community that repairs to the damaged sections of the school would commence without delay, aiming to minimize disruption to the students’ education.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation as efforts continue to determine how this unfortunate incident occurred.
