Tinsukia DC Transforms Rs 20 Lakh Award into Cutting-Edge Learning Hub
In a groundbreaking effort to enhance reading and digital learning, Tinsukia District Commissioner Swapneel Paul has utilized the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024 to establish a cutting-edge learning room at the District Library. The award, which included a sum of Rs 20 lakh, was invested in creating a fully air-conditioned multipurpose facility. This new space is equipped with video conferencing capabilities, group discussion areas, Wi-Fi, and modern teaching aids, aligning with the Assam Government’s initiative to designate 2025 as the Year of Books.
Paul inaugurated the facility on Tuesday morning, alongside his wife. He emphasized the importance of reading, stating, “Reading enriches a nation. With changing times and technology, innovations in reading must be introduced to attract the younger generation.” He also highlighted that the project was completed in a remarkably short time frame.
The inauguration was attended by Additional District Commissioner Mirjana Hussain, ACS officer Anannya Choudhury, and numerous respected citizens of Tinsukia, who commended the District Commissioner’s visionary approach.
This innovative initiative is not Paul’s first. He has previously garnered praise for launching DC Vista, an educational park near his office, opening a free de-addiction center as part of the Aarohan Project, and executing Mission Thoughtful, which offers medical services, certification, and free assistive devices to individuals with disabilities.
With the establishment of the new learning room, Swapneel Paul has again shown that administrative awards can be transformed into meaningful public benefits, fostering education, innovation, and community growth.
