Chaos and Controversy: BJP’s ‘Farziwada’ Claims Against Rahul’s Seat
NEW DELHI, Aug 13: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday alleged discrepancies in voter registration in several parliamentary constituencies, including Rae Bareli, Wayanad, Diamond Harbour, and Kannauj. The party has called for the resignation of prominent opposition figures such as Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Abhishek Banerjee, and Akhilesh Yadav, accusing them of winning their seats through “vote chori” or vote theft.
BJP spokesperson Anurag Thakur presented a slideshow at the party headquarters, outlining what he termed “irregularities” in voter registration across these constituencies. He also drew attention to issues in Kolathur in Tamil Nadu and Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, calling for the resignation of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and SP leader Dimple Yadav for alleged election rigging. Thakur condemned the Congress and other opposition parties, claiming they are waging an anti-Election Commission campaign to undermine the mandate of “honest and genuine Indian citizens,” thereby threatening national security.
Thakur noted, “The hue and cry made by the opposition suggests that those at fault are now crying foul.” He highlighted a troubling trend, questioning the presence of fake voters in various constituencies. He claimed that the opposition is protecting a “vote bank” linked to illegal immigration and other issues.
Rahul Gandhi, previously accusing the BJP of similar practices, claimed that over 100,000 votes were manipulated in Karnataka during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, citing various forms of voter fraud including duplicate entries and false addresses.
Thakur responded sharply to Gandhi’s allegations, labeling him a “propaganda king” and saying, “This country will not be shaken by your agenda.” He urged Gandhi to consider why his party has lost approximately 90 elections under his leadership, rather than blaming voters who have supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In Rae Bareli, Thakur alleged that around 299,000 “doubtful voters” were registered, including over 19,500 duplicates and nearly 72,000 with false addresses. He called out various entries, including one individual listed with three different voter IDs.
Moreover, Thakur stated that the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency had approximately 93,499 questionable entries, with over 20,000 duplicates. He challenged Priyanka Gandhi to resign in light of these findings.
Allegations regarding the history of electoral fraud were directed at the Congress, asserting that the party initiated electoral rigging practices back in 1952, including booth capturing and misuse of government resources.
Thakur pointed out similar patterns in constituencies represented by TMC and SP leaders, with claims of high numbers of dubious voters in Diamond Harbour, Kannauj, and Mainpuri.
Recently, opposition leaders attempted to stage a protest march from Parliament to the Election Commission’s office regarding “vote theft” but were met with police resistance. The Congress party further intensified its campaign against alleged vote manipulation by releasing a video showing how fake votes can be cast. Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge urged citizens to safeguard constitutional institutions from what he describes as the BJP’s overreach.
As the political landscape heats up ahead of the elections, the allegations and counter-allegations may significantly shape voter perceptions and outcomes.
