Join the Excitement: CM Champions State-level ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Celebrations!
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay led a significant state-level event at Manan Kendra in Gangtok, as part of the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign organized by the state government. This celebration coincided with India’s ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and Sikkim’s Golden Jubilee, marking a period of pride and remembrance for the citizens.
In his address, the Chief Minister expressed his appreciation to Governor Om Prakash Mathur and all participants for their commitment to the successful implementation of the campaign. He elaborated on the importance of the National Flag, breaking down its symbolism: saffron represents courage and sacrifice, white signifies truth and peace, green indicates nature and prosperity, while the Ashoka Chakra embodies progress, justice, and righteousness. The campaign aims to deepen the emotional bond between citizens and the Tiranga, enhancing feelings of patriotism among the populace.
Tamang-Golay highlighted Sikkim’s reputation for natural heritage, environmental cleanliness, and social harmony, emphasizing its role as a model state in environmental conservation. He pointed out the progress of the One District One Product initiative, aligning it with the vision set forth by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He reminded citizens that the Constitution grants both rights and responsibilities, urging participation in national events as acts of pride rather than mere holidays. He encouraged people to display the National Flag at their homes, reaffirming that the Supreme Court has upheld this right. The Tiranga, he noted, symbolizes both the Constitution and national identity, inviting citizens to reflect on its importance and the accomplishments achieved under its banner.
The Chief Minister described the Tiranga not just as a flag but as a representation of the sacrifices made by martyrs, the struggle for freedom, and the aspirations for future generations. He stressed the need for attendance at such patriotic events to stem from genuine motivation, citing army veterans as examples of dedicated participation.
He suggested that events could incorporate thematic attire and cultural performances to enhance the patriotic atmosphere, praising the Tiranga Concert and performances from the Culture department and NCC Cadets Choir for their contributions.
Concluding his remarks, the Chief Minister emphasized that the nation should be prioritized above all else, encouraging citizens to keep the Tiranga flying high in tribute to India’s unity, sacrifices, and progress. Earlier in the day, he, along with other dignitaries, visited a Tiranga Photo Exhibition organized by the Information and Public Relations department, showcasing the journey and evolution of the National Flag.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Neelam Neopaney, OSD of the Culture department. Notable attendees included cabinet ministers, MLAs, and officials from various government departments, highlighting the significant community engagement in this celebration.
