Zelenskyy Firmly Rejects Any Suggestion of Ukrainian Territorial Concessions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has categorically dismissed any notion of Ukraine ceding territory to Russia as part of a potential peace agreement. This statement follows comments made by former US President Donald Trump, who suggested a territorial swap to bring an end to the ongoing conflict. Zelenskyy declared, “Ukraine will not surrender land to the occupier,” emphasizing that Kyiv will not reward Russia for its aggressive actions. He highlighted the necessity for a true and enduring peace, stating that the goal is not merely a cessation of violence but a real, lasting resolution.
Zelenskyy’s remarks came during a meeting with senior Ukrainian and European officials alongside US Vice President JD Vance in Kent, England. This meeting, which marks the conflict’s fourth year, included representatives from several major European nations, such as the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Finland, and Poland. The Ukrainian president described the discussions as constructive and expressed optimism regarding continued support from Western allies.
Furthermore, Zelenskyy criticized an upcoming meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, set for August 15 in Alaska, asserting that any decisions made without Ukraine’s involvement would be considered null and void. “They will never work,” he stated, underscoring Ukraine’s demand for inclusion in critical discussions affecting its future.
