Exposed: Kejriwal Misled the Public with Fake Phansi-Ghar Inauguration – Shocking Revelations from the Speaker!
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta recently accused former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of misleading the public regarding the inauguration of a “bogus” phansi-ghar, or execution room, within the Assembly premises in August 2022. In a session of the Assembly, Gupta highlighted discrepancies in claims about the historical site, stating, “We contacted the National Archives to obtain the building’s map from 1911-12, which revealed that no such phansi-ghar exists here.” He emphasized that the wooden structure in question was actually a lift, previously used as a “tiffin room” for assembly members.
The allegations intensified as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members called for an apology from Kejriwal, asserting that he had misled the Assembly. In contrast, members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticized Gupta for raising the issue amidst several pressing problems facing the capital. Gupta maintained that a meeting with historians, including experts from Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University, confirmed his stance that the supposed execution room was fictitious. “A sensation was created that it was a phansi-ghar. It was a lie,” Gupta stated.
Reactions within the Assembly became heated, with BJP member Shikha Roy characterizing Kejriwal’s claims as a “disrespect” to the institution’s dignity and asserting that it constitutes a criminal offense warranting an FIR. AAP’s Leader of the Opposition, Atishi, expressed concern over the lack of discussion on various critical issues affecting Delhi. AAP member Virendra Singh Kadian pointed out that the assembly’s expertise in historical matters was lacking and suggested that discussions should take a constructive direction rather than pursue punitive actions.
Despite the opposition from AAP members, Gupta noted that the discussion regarding the phansi-ghar would continue the following day. He called on Atishi to provide documented evidence to support the claims regarding the execution room’s existence.
In a separate event, Gupta also held a courtesy meeting with a British parliamentary delegation led by Nusrat Ghani, Deputy Speaker of the U.K. House of Commons. He noted the importance of shared democratic values and historic ties in strengthening the partnership between India and the U.K.
As the political discourse in Delhi intensifies, the allegations of misinformation surrounding the phansi-ghar highlight the critical interplay between historical accuracy and contemporary governance. The assembly’s ongoing debates bring into focus not only the historical narratives that shape political discourse but also the pressing issues that require immediate attention from the leaders elected to serve the city’s citizens.
