Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI, is reportedly preparing a group of cyber-jihadis with the aim of advancing its anti-India agenda. This development has underscored the necessity for enhanced cyber patrols to counter misinformation and propaganda spread by Pakistan, particularly in the wake of recent tensions following Operation Sindoor. Many emerging IT companies in India are stepping up to assist the military in this information warfare.
During the recent Homeland Security and Police Expo held in New Delhi from July 31 to August 1, various companies showcased their technological advancements, including those focused on cybersecurity. One notable participant was Mflitrit, based in the Delhi-NCR region. The company boasts a specialized IT solution that purportedly monitors all enemy movements within the cyber domain.
In light of recent events, approximately 800 social media accounts that had been identified as spreading Pakistani propaganda from within India were blocked during Operation Sindoor, according to Mflitrit’s CEO, Amit Relan. This action was taken by the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Information Broadcasting. The company asserts that their intelligence solutions can effectively track hostile activities as well as combat cybercrime within the country.
The ISI’s initiative to cultivate cyber-jihadis necessitates vigilant cyber patrols to mitigate their influence online. Earlier this year, during the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Mflitrit collaborated with the Uttar Pradesh Police to disable over 200 fraudulent websites that were deceiving unsuspecting pilgrims. These criminals set up fake accounts and schemes that exploited the faith of attendees, engaging in scams related to hotel bookings and donations.
