Heartbreaking Mishap: Shark Tank India’s Bakery Blunders Birthday Cake with Embarrassing Message!
A recent incident involving a popular bakery, Creme Castle, has sparked an uproar on social media after a Reddit user shared their frustrating experience during a birthday celebration. The user, who paid ₹400 for a 300g chocolate truffle bento cake through Swiggy, intended to commemorate their mother’s birthday with a special message written in frosting. However, the bakery misinterpreted the order, resulting in the words “MUMMY… TEXT WITH FROSTING…” being prominently displayed on the cake.
Upon discovering the error, the user reached out to Creme Castle via WhatsApp, seeking resolution. Unfortunately, they claimed that customer service was unhelpful, stating that a refund or replacement wasn’t possible. Frustrated by the lack of accountability, the user took to the “r/sharktankindia” subreddit to share screenshots of their order, the cake, and the chat with customer service, further amplifying their discontent.
Creme Castle, featured on Shark Tank India Season 3, Episode 35, is operated by Pranjay and Veena Mittal from Noida. The bakery is known for its customized cakes, promising delivery within two hours. During their Shark Tank appearance, the couple claimed to offer prices that are 40% lower than their competitors, boasting a wide array of designs and flavors. Before appearing on the show, they claimed to have served over 500,000 satisfied customers, seeking ₹60 lakh for 1.5% equity and ultimately receiving ₹60 lakh for a 2.5% stake from CarDekho’s Amit Jain, which valued the company at ₹40 crore.
As the Reddit post gained traction, reactions from social media users poured in. Some shared similar grievances, one user alleging their family experienced food poisoning from a Creme Castle fruit cake and lamenting the lack of response from customer service. “Complained but ZERO replies. No accountability,” they commented. Others disagreed with the notion of seeking a refund, suggesting the issue was trivial. “Honestly, all you had to do was remove the chocolate disc on which it was written. Why make such a fuss?” one commenter remarked, while the original poster clarified they hadn’t asked for a refund but merely for the issue to be resolved.
As the situation unfolded, LiveMint reached out to Creme Castle for an official statement. An insider, however, indicated that the dispute had already been resolved with the customer, suggesting that the company may have taken steps to address the dissatisfaction.
This incident highlights the importance of communication and customer service in the food industry, emphasizing that even small errors can lead to significant backlash in the digital age. With social media platforms providing a stage for customers to voice their concerns, businesses are reminded of the necessity to prioritize customer satisfaction to maintain their reputation and ensure continued patronage.
