Court Grants Bail to Two Nuns in Kerala Human Trafficking Case
A special court in Bilaspur district, Chhattisgarh, granted bail to three individuals, including two nuns from Kerala, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, who were arrested on charges of human trafficking. The announcement was made by the defense attorney following the hearing on Friday, where Chief District and Sessions Judge Sirajuddin Qureshi reserved the order on their bail applications.
According to Amrit Das, the defense lawyer, the court has granted conditional bail. A railway police officer reported that the two Catholic nuns, Priya Mary and Vandana Francis, along with a third person, were arrested at the Dug Railways Station on July 25.
After the bail hearing on Friday, Das stated that the investigation agency did not seek custody for interrogation, and the complainants involved were sent back home.
