Bihar SIR: 95.92% Electors Participated-Only 6 Days Left to Vote!

Almost 95.92 percent of electors have been covered under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Bihar, according to an official from the Election Commission of India (ECI). With only six days remaining to fill out Enumeration Forms (EFs), the ECI is intensifying efforts to include nearly 32 lakh remaining electors on the draft electoral roll.

So far, EFs for 7.15 crore, or 90.64 percent, of the 7.89 crore electors in Bihar have been received. However, 41.64 lakh, or 5.27 percent, of the electors could not be located by either Booth Level Officers or political party agents. Among these, approximately 14.29 lakh, or 1.81 percent, are likely deceased, while 19.74 lakh, or 2.5 percent, have likely moved permanently.

During the SIR process, 7.5 lakh electors, or 0.95 percent, were found to be registered in multiple locations. Additionally, around 11,000 electors are currently untraceable. The ECI is utilizing nationwide newspaper advertisements and various communication methods to reach out to Bihar residents who may be temporarily residing elsewhere. To assist in registering remaining urban electors, special camps have been organized across all 5,683 wards in the state’s 261 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

The ECI has reported that Booth Level Officers have conducted over three rounds of house-to-house visits to establish contact with electors. A unified effort from the entire electoral machinery is currently underway, including further visits to reach out to uncontacted electors.

Election officials are working diligently to ensure that no eligible elector is omitted from the draft Electoral Roll set to be published on August 1, 2025. According to the SIR order issued on June 24, any discrepancies in the draft Electoral Roll can be rectified by August 30, 2025. This includes correcting any names inadvertently added or omitted, with claims and objections accepted from any elector, political party, or appointed agent.
