On July 9, Samsung Electronics showcased the future of mobile technology during its Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event at the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn. Themed “Unfold Ultra,” this year’s event took a bold step into the realm of mobile AI, unveiling innovative devices that promise to enhance personal and professional experiences. Central to this launch were the new Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, and the Galaxy Watch8 series, all designed to incorporate Galaxy AI for seamless user integration and transformative performance.
TM Roh, President and Acting Head of Device eXperience at Samsung, emphasized the company’s vision for a more human-centered approach to AI. “When AI is paired with powerful mobile technology, it opens up a whole new world of opportunities,” Roh stated. He highlighted that true breakthrough innovations occur when hardware, software, and services work in tandem to push boundaries.
At the heart of Samsung’s transformation is One UI 8, a next-generation interface tailored for foldables, optimized for AI use, and focused on multimodal understanding. Enhanced privacy features are also included, such as the on-device Personal Data Engine and Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection. The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 will launch with Android 16, thanks to a collaborative effort with Google.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 stands out as the slimmest iteration yet, engineered for productivity with features like Writing Assist and Drawing Assist. Its 200-megapixel camera allows users to capture expansive shots and crop pictures without sacrificing quality. The AI-powered editing tools, including the new Suggest Erases feature, enable effortless content refinement.
Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Z Flip7, which combines compact design with cutting-edge functionality. With its reengineered Flex Hinge and impressive battery capacity, the device boasts a 6.9-inch display and a new 4.1-inch FlexWindow that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. The device also taps into Google’s Gemini for hands-free AI capabilities, enabling users to receive tailored suggestions based on immediate data.
The Galaxy Watch8 series further elevates Samsung’s commitment to health and wellness. With a sleek design and advanced tracking capabilities, the smartwatch features a new Running Coach function that personalizes training insights and a Bedtime Guidance feature designed to enhance sleep quality. Additionally, the introduction of the Antioxidant Index provides users with insights into their overall wellness.
Sustainability also played a crucial role in this year’s Galaxy offerings. Both the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 utilize various recycled materials, in line with Samsung’s Galaxy for the Planet initiative, advocating for environmental responsibility.
Attendees at the product experience zone were eager to explore the new devices, expressing excitement over their compact and functional designs. “When I first saw the Galaxy Z Fold7, I was surprised by how slim and lightweight it is,” said Francisco Javier, a Samsung Member from Spain.
