Agartala, 6th July 2025: Eight Bangladeshi nationals were detained by the Border Security Force (BSF) while traveling on the Agartala-Silchar train at Churaibari Railway Station in North District today.

The arrests were carried out by personnel from Assam’s Sopanjuri 87/97 Battalion, who acted on intelligence information and intercepted the group at a key transit route on the Tripura-Assam border.

All eight individuals are from the Nawabganj area of the Rajshahi district in Bangladesh. They have been identified as Mohammad Nuimon, Mohammad Sohel, Rakibul, Mohammad Siam, Mohammad Shakil, Mohammad Rubel, Mohammad Rian, and Mohammad Iqbal. According to sources, the group had entered India illegally and was attempting to return to Bangladesh via Agartala without valid documents.

The BSF personnel took the detainees to the office of the Superintendent of Police in North District for further verification. Their identities and addresses were confirmed during the initial interrogation, and the deportation process is currently underway. A BSF Assistant Sub-Inspector stated, “As per the Government of India’s prevailing policy, necessary legal action will be taken and they will be deported accordingly.”
