Heavy monsoon rains, landslides, and incidents of cloudbursts have devastated Himachal Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of 62 individuals, with 56 others reported missing since June 20. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings for ongoing severe weather, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across various regions of the state until July 8.
Rescue and recovery efforts are actively underway to restore normalcy in the affected areas. The state government has ordered district administrations to provide all necessary assistance to those impacted. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited severely affected areas, including Dharampur, Thunag, and Janjehli in the Mandi district. During his visit, he met with victims and pledged comprehensive support, announcing a special relief package for those affected by the catastrophic weather.
To enhance communication in the face of these challenges, intra-circle roaming has been activated in Thunag until July 11, enabling users to connect to any available mobile network regardless of their original service provider. The Meteorological Department continues to alert residents of heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in multiple districts until July 8. In light of the ongoing forecast, authorities advise residents to take all necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
