Brave Woman Pilot Faces Shocking Sexual Harassment in Mumbai Cab Ride: 3 Arrested | India News
A 28-year-old woman pilot reportedly faced sexual harassment during an Uber ride in Mumbai on Thursday night. The incident, which occurred around 11:15 PM, has led to the booking of the cab driver and two male passengers involved.
According to police reports, the woman was returning home to Ghatkopar after dining with her husband in South Mumbai. Her husband, an officer in the Navy, had booked the Uber for her since he was temporarily residing in a Navy complex while waiting for government accommodation. During her ride, the woman recounted experiencing a troubling situation when the driver unexpectedly took a different route approximately 25 minutes into the journey. At this point, he allowed two men to enter the vehicle.
As the ride continued, one of the men seated beside her allegedly touched her inappropriately. She described a moment of panic, stating that when she confronted him, he responded with threats, while the driver failed to intervene despite the obvious distress. The situation escalated further when the group noticed police conducting checks along the highway, prompting the two men to exit the cab and flee the scene.
After being dropped off at her residence, the woman confronted the driver about his decision to allow the men into the car, to which he offered no explanation. Distressed by the entire ordeal, she shared her experience with her husband the next morning, leading the couple to file a complaint with the Ghatkopar police the same day.
Authorities have registered a case against the three individuals under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, and common intention. The investigation is currently underway as police work to uncover further details surrounding the incident.
This occurrence highlights ongoing concerns about safety measures in rideshare services and the importance of robust protocols to protect passengers from harassment. As investigations develop, members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and report any similar experiences to ensure accountability and enhance safety measures within such services.
