Protesting against the railway administration’s decision to relocate crew link operations from New Bongaigaon Railway Junction to Alipurduar Junction and Guwahati, employees at New Bongaigaon organized a protest on Wednesday. The workers underscored the station’s strategic significance in the North East region, highlighting that the economy of Lower Assam heavily relies on this junction. They expressed concerns that the transfer could be part of a larger plot to diminish the station’s importance. “This is a significant issue that must be addressed,” an employee stated.
The protesting workers urged the railway administration to reconsider its decision regarding the crew link transfer. They warned that failure to do so would compel them to initiate a larger agitation in the near future. The rally aimed to draw attention to what they believe is a critical threat to the livelihoods and economic stability of the local community.
