Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the media following the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171, confirming that multiple passengers are feared dead, igniting nationwide grief for the victims and their families. On behalf of the Central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah extended heartfelt condolences to those affected by the disaster.

Shah outlined the swift response initiated by the government, noting that the Union Government was alerted within ten minutes of the crash. This prompted immediate coordination between the Chief Minister, the Home Department, and Civil Aviation authorities to launch a comprehensive search and rescue operation.

“The Prime Minister personally called to oversee the situation,” Shah stated, emphasizing the collaborative response from both state and central agencies. Of the passengers onboard-230 in total, along with 12 crew members-only one survivor has been confirmed, whom Shah had the opportunity to meet personally.

He underscored the importance of identifying the deceased, indicating that the final death toll would be verified through identification processes and DNA testing of the recovered bodies. The urgency of this matter, he noted, is underscored by the collaboration between various governmental branches.

In tandem, the Gujarat government mobilized all necessary emergency services while contacting the Central Armed Police Forces to bolster rescue efforts in the aftermath of the crash. Shah’s comments reflect a concerted effort from all levels of government aimed at addressing the crisis and providing support to those affected.

As the investigation continues and more information becomes available, the focus remains on ensuring that the victims’ families receive the support they need during this challenging time. The sentiment of shared grief resonates deeply within the hearts of the nation as everyone comes together to support the victims’ families.

This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the inherent risks associated with air travel. Moving forward, both aviation safety regulations and emergency response protocols will likely undergo scrutiny as authorities aim to prevent such calamities in the future. The lives lost in this incident will not be forgotten, and efforts to honor their memory are already underway.
