Tragic Turn in Meghalaya Honeymoon: Sonam Raghuvanshi Surrenders, 3 Arrested
Sonam Raghuvanshi, whose husband Raja was found dead in a gorge in Meghalaya’s Wei Sawdong area, has surrendered after being missing for two weeks. The Meghalaya police have arrested three suspects in connection with the case, while one remains at large.
The disappearance of the Indore couple, who were honeymooning in Meghalaya, drew significant public attention and pressure on authorities to resolve the matter swiftly. The couple’s family has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe. Additionally, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh appealed to Home Minister Amit Shah for similar action.
Following Sonam’s surrender, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma commended the state police for their rapid progress, achieving a breakthrough in just seven days. Sonam Raghuvanshi, 25, and her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, 29, went missing on May 23, mere hours after checking out from a homestay in Nongriat village, located in the East Khasi Hills district.
On June 2, authorities discovered Raja’s body in a deep gorge near a waterfall in the Sohra area, approximately 20 kilometers from their homestay. The case continues to unfold as investigations deepen and more details emerge.
