Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, has confirmed the state’s first COVID-19 case of the current wave. A person who recently returned from Mumbai tested positive for the virus, according to a senior health official. The individual is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.
Dr. Prabhat Kumar, the Civil Surgeon of Ranchi, reported that the patient’s condition is stable, and he does not exhibit any complications. “Today, we received the official confirmation of the first COVID-19 case in Ranchi for this wave,” he stated. A health check-up campaign is set to begin in Ranchi on Monday, and the local Sadar Hospital is establishing an isolation ward with 20 beds.
In a post on social media, the infected individual noted, “There are 257 confirmed COVID-19 cases in India so far, and I am one of them.” He recounted that on May 22, while traveling from Mumbai to Ranchi, he lost consciousness during the flight. A member of the Jharkhand Film Development Corporation Limited, he was supposed to attend film previews but was unable to due to his health.
Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari expressed that the state is on high alert for the new variant of COVID-19 and emphasized the government’s preparedness. “This is a normal situation. There is no need to panic,” he reassured, stating that the health department is closely monitoring the situation. Ansari added that the government is awaiting new guidelines from the central government and will act promptly once they are received.
